From Our Head of School

Special Message

Olaf Jorgenson

Almaden Country Day School has shaped confident, balanced, eager learners for 40 years, and we’ve continued doing so right through the pandemic. Buoyed by a massive, community-wide commitment to a healthy and supportive learning environment, paired with the school’s substantial investment in leading-edge disinfection technology, ACDS successfully mobilized to keep our families and faculty safe, school open, and children learning as we’ve navigated COVID-19. We remain intensely focused on student and staff wellness, advancing confidently and with resolve through an exciting 2021-2022 school year.

Despite the many challenges brought by the pandemic, our objectives as a school remain steady and robust: to challenge, stimulate, and care for every student, every day; to balance character development with academic rigor and joyful learning; and as our mission promises, to discover the gifts in every child. By every measure, from our academics to joyful student culture to our placement results in the area’s private high schools, we are succeeding; talk with an ACDS parent, and you’ll hear the stories firsthand. We’re determined to continue meeting these goals, and then some.

This school year, we move forward with hope and purpose as we carefully revive many familiar and cherished ACDS practices and traditions, and -- as conditions allow -- rekindle the warm and welcoming community interactions that have defined our school since its 1982 founding.

What’s more, we celebrate our 40th year of serving the Almaden community, as well as the transformational opening of the spectacular new 15,000 square foot Fisher Event Center. We have much to celebrate at ACDS, on many fronts, and it’s a very exciting time to join the Cougar Nation.
Thanks very much for your interest in Almaden Country Day School.
