Our Campus

Founded in 1982, the ACDS Campus is situated on a nine-acre campus in the heart of Almaden Valley, San Jose, California. Our campus is a place that allows for a personalized learning experience that enhances the ACDS mission to discover the gifts in every child. Classrooms across campus are filled with joyful learning from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Our youngest students learn through play in our Pre-K classrooms and outdoor areas including the playground and sandbox area. As students progress through the grade levels, they experience unique classroom settings that enhance their learning experiences. During break times the Middle School courtyard can be a place to relax with friends and our large sports fields provide an opportunity to try out different sports during PE class or activities with friends during recess. Our Blacktop area is located in the heart of campus; it serves as a wonderful space for students to play basketball, 4-square, and other fun playard games. Each spring, our community comes together on the blacktop to celebrate our students and all of their amazing work, projects and talents during our Blacktop Bash.

Our outdoor spaces also serve as a place of learning. Our Edible Garden developed by teachers, administrators and staff grows a variety of plants including lettuce, strawberries, herbs, kale and much more. It offers a space for students to learn about life science, botany, the care of living things, systems and cycles. Students in K-5 spend time learning about and caring for the garden. Middle School students work in the garden during their Edible Garden elective course.

In 2018, we signed a 70-year lease with the San Jose Unified School District and embarked on our long-term Campus Master Plan to support and enhance the 21st-century ACDS learning experiences now and far into the future. In 2021, ACDS officially opened the Fisher Event Center, a 15,000 square feet building with a regulation-size high school gym, state-of-the art theater, “flex room” that can serve many purposes including instruction and social functions as well as a servery for catering and concessions.

As we look into our future, we envision a school enhanced by the spaces it needs to continue discovering the gifts in every child.
ACDS Library

For the past academic year, technology education and library experiences were delivered from classroom to classroom while the building that housed these activities was being remodeled. And while students could check out books, do research, code, learn to type, build websites, learn about augmented reality, and enjoy story time all from their homerooms, these popular activity hubs were dearly missed. But no longer. In Fall 2022, students will be able to enjoy the newly renovated facility, including the Imaginarium maker space, the middle school science laboratory, and the library, which celebrated its grand re-opening during the Spring Book Fair in May 2022.

Fisher Event Center

Almaden Country Day School (ACDS) officially opened its Fisher Event Center in September 2021. ACDS is celebrating 40 years of delivering an education focused on a balance of joyful learning, character development, and academic rigor. The Fisher Event Center will serve to enhance the ACDS experience by supporting the school’s commitment to finding the gifts in every child. It will also serve as a place where the entire school community can come together.
