Flexible Tuition

Flexible Tuition is available to families on the basis of demonstrated need for applicants in grades Preschool through 8th.

At Almaden Country Day School, we appreciate that a private school education requires a considerable sacrifice for many families. For that reason, our Flexible Tuition program is designed to provide tuition support that will meet you where you are.

If you would like to inquire about Flexible Tuition, the next step after you complete your application is to find out the level of tuition for which you qualify first by filling out a FAST Aid form.

Flexible Tuition FAQs

How do we know if we qualify for Flexible Tuition support?

After you complete the FAST Aid form on our website, FAST Aid will send its report and recommendation to our Business Office, and the Flexible Tuition Committee will review your application to make a final recommendation to our CFO Mr. Craig VonDemfange. Mr. VonDemfange will then notify you via email.

How do you calculate our award amount?

ACDS uses a third-party financial calculator, FAST Aid, to evaluate applications for Flexible Tuition. FAST Aid is used by thousands of private schools nationwide to provide impartial, objective tuition assistance recommendations that factor cost of living and other variables into their assessments of the information parents provide in their aid applications.

Then, our Flexible Tuition Committee reviews the FAST Aid report and takes into account any additional considerations or special personal circumstances that the applicant describes on the FAST Aid application. For current families, the Committee looks at the student's academic and behavioral standing, and the ways in which the family contributes to the life of the school or otherwise demonstrates a commitment to ACDS.

Based on the FAST Aid data and these other considerations, the Committee makes its recommendation to our CFO, who relays the award information to the family.

Who makes the final decision on Flexible Tuition awards?

The Flexible Tuition Committee uses the FAST Aid report and other considerations like special personal circumstances or a family’s commitment to ACDS to make final decisions about awards.

Is the award one year only, or do we keep getting Flexible Tuition support as long as our children are enrolled at ACDS?

Flexible Tuition awards are renewed annually, and require families to submit an application each year. This is so FAST Aid can re-evaluate a family’s award amount based on any changes in their financial status, as well as changes in state or federal legislation that impacts tuition assistance at private schools.

Tuition Payment Options

Almaden Country Day School requires that Basic Tuition be paid in one of two ways:

Option 1 – Single Annual Payment. Basic Tuition paid in full by May 31. Non-refundable tuition deposit due at time of enrollment/re-enrollment. There is a discount for single annual payment. The Preschool and Junior Kindergarten discount is $275 and the Kindergarten through 8th grade discount is $400. Please contact the Business Office if you have questions.

Option 2 – Monthly Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). If you wish to pay Basic Tuition on a monthly basis, you will need to authorize the school to electronically withdraw funds from your bank account starting in June and running through May. Tuition is drawn over 11 months with the February draw devoted to the non-refundable tuition deposit.

Additional Information

Priority Re-Enrollment

During the annual re-enrollment window, current families have the opportunity to re-enroll their student(s) before the school offers admission to prospective students. To complete re-enrollment and reserve a spot for the following school year, the online contract must be completed, and the non-refundable tuition deposit must be paid by check (for families who pay tuition in one payment) or via online payment available in the re-enrollment contract (for families who pay tuition monthly via EFT). Current families will also be able to let the Advancement Office know if they do not plan to return the following year.

New Enrollments

A one-time, non-refundable $100 application fee is due with each application. Upon confirmation of acceptance to the school, the non-refundable tuition deposit for each student is due within one week.

International Student Fee

The International Student Fee covers the costs of the additional time and attention international students require from admissions staff, faculty, and administration, as well as the services provided by the International Student Coordinator.

Other Fees

There will be additional fees during the school year to pay for things such as overnight field trips (est. $200- $2,200), after-school sports (est. $150-200), and optional hot lunch (est. $6/day). A $25 late fee may be added to any fees that are not received by the due date.

Withdrawal

During the re-enrollment process, if we receive a “Request for Records” from another school we will assume your child no longer intends to enroll and his/her space will be forfeited. Families who withdraw after school has begun should contact the Admissions Office for more information.

Termination

Students and parents attending Almaden Country Day School are expected to understand and abide by the principles and policies outlined in the Parent Handbook (available on the website under Parent's Corner). Failure to do so may result in termination from school at the sole discretion of the Head of School. Services may be terminated if it is determined through observations and parent meetings that Almaden Country Day School does not meet the needs of your child.

Almaden Country Day School is a nonprofit organization funded by tuition and charitable contributions. All fees are subject to change.
