Apple Seed News

School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 15

Say cheese! All students will have their picture taken for the yearbook on Wednesday, September 15. There will be no class group photos this year. Jim Nelson Photography will send the school a private viewing link to share with you so that you can order pictures. If your child would like to retake their photo, that will be offered at a later date.

No Food in Classrooms Please

To protect our students with serious (even life-threatening) food allergies, we ask that parents not bring food of any sort into the classrooms for the children to eat. This includes birthday celebrations (we will do games, songs, puzzles etc., and celebrate without the food).

As an exception, from time to time, certain teachers may include food as part of an instructional lesson, illustrating regional cuisine in a language class for example. These teachers will check with our allergy coordinator, Mrs. White, to make sure the food is safe for everyone in the class.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to keep all of our students safe.

PSA Information

Meet your PSA Co-Presidents

We are thrilled to welcome Katie Tuvell and Jennifer Billante as our new co-presidents of the Parents' Service Auxiliary (PSA)! They are parents of three ACDS students collectively, and they have enjoyed being involved both in the classroom and in organizing school-wide activities.

What is the PSA?

The Parent Service Auxiliary (PSA) is composed of parents with the purpose of building community here at ACDS. The PSA builds community by organizing special all-school events, teacher luncheons, and parties and socials. The PSA does an incredible job of fostering camaraderie among parents, staff, and students.

You can help support the PSA and ACDS by volunteering your time. Please check out iVolunteer to see how you can help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to PSA co-presidents Katie and Jennifer at psa@almadencountryday.org.

PeerPal

You may have seen something new on our website! The PeerPal widget enables prospective parents to reach out to current parents and admissions staff to learn more about our school. Sharing your parent perspective can be a great help to prospective parents. If you’d like to learn more about PeerPal or want to be a Parent Ambassador, please contact the Admissions Office.

Carpool Reminders

Thank you everyone for your patience as we navigate our new drop off and pick up routines. Here are some friendly reminders for the afternoons:

Afternoon pick up

  • Pre-K and K: Parents should either park in the Trinidad lot (if Guest spaces are available) or in the neighborhood and walk onto campus to pick up their child
  • Grades 1-5: Parents can either use the carpool loop or park in the neighborhood and walk onto campus to pick up their child at the classroom door
  • Grades 6-8: Parents can use the carpool loop, park in the neighborhood and walk onto campus to pick up their child, or arrange a neighborhood pick up location (parent permission in writing is required; please email Mrs. Osorio at kosorio@almadencountryday.org).

Please note: If you walk onto campus in the afternoon to pick up your child, please do not enter campus until 2:55 p.m. Also, there is no campus entry or exit for pedestrians on Akio; please enter from the Trinidad side of campus and use the sidewalks and crosswalks.
