Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Updated March 15, 2024

COVID Reminders

The Santa Clara County Public Health (SCCPH) office has updated its COVID-19 Guidance regarding isolation to match the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

The updated guidance moves towards a more symptom-based approach to COVID-19 and removes the recommendation for a 5-day isolation period following a COVID-19 positive test.

ACDS is now adopting the County and State COVID-19 protocols. Below are changes to our approach based on the new health guidance:

For Those Testing Positive for COVID-19 and Experiencing COVID-19 Symptoms

  • Stay home if you have COVID-19 symptoms, until you have not had a fever for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication AND other COVID-19 symptoms are mild and improving.
    • Mask when you are around other people indoors for the ten days after you become sick or test positive. Students may remove their masks sooner than ten days if they have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. Day 0 is the symptom onset date or positive test date if there are no symptoms.

Foro Those Testing Positive for COVID-19 and Not Experiencing COVID-19 Symptoms

  • Staff or students who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have symptoms can continue to come to work/school, following these CDPH recommendations:
    • Mask when you are around other people indoors for the ten days after you test positive. Students may remove their masks sooner than ten days if they have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart.
    • Contacts with more potential to transmit the virus to others or to transmit it to higher-risk secondary contacts are recommended to take greater care in following the recommendations to limit spreading the virus to others during the ten days following their exposure and may consider self-limiting their exposure to others.

Reporting Cases to ACDS:

Staff and families should continue to report all positive cases for safety, tracking, and reporting purposes. Positive cases should be reported to covid@almadencountryday.org.
