Summer at Home
We are thrilled to offer our ACDS students virtual summer camp activities led by passionate teachers! Parents can build partial- or full-day adventures for one or more weeks of camp. Our camps, just like our e-learning curriculum, aim to strike a balance between independent time and on-screen instruction. Between outdoor creative fun. games, drama, STEM, arts, and world language offerings, "summering" at home has never sounded more fun.

Gain French Fluency with Storytelling
Time: 2:00-3:15 PM
Mme. Rizvi
Do you like making up weird and interesting stories? Do you like to shock people with your novel and unexpected endings? How cool would it be if you could do all of that in French! Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) is an authentic language acquisition process that lets student acquire French vocabulary, spoken proficiency and grammar (eek!) in fun and exciting ways. It's like you are learning French, without realizing your are learning French! There is a lot of circling questions and repetition with new details added as the story progresses. The stories are built with students and they make it their own. TPRS can also work with PictureTalk and MovieTalk. We will be exploring French language in themes and context, leveraging what students are already learning in other areas of their lives and re-contextualizing them in fun and silly stories. Let your imagination run wild! My only ask is that you do it in French!
Cost: $120
Supplies: Campers may bring props/stuffed animals/other fantastical creations, etc. to add to characters and details of their stories but it is optional.
