Extended Care
At Almaden Country Day School, we believe children benefit from having comfortable places to gear up and wind down at school that is safe, enriching and also extends learning.
We offer supervised care before and after school. In the mornings, students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade can attend our complimentary before-school care. After-school care is available to Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade students for a fee based upon the number of days your child attends.
Before-School Care: Kindergarten - 8th Grade
We offer complimentary supervised before-school care for children enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Kindergarten - 8th Grade: Before-School Care
We understand the need families have for flexibility in dropping off their children in the early morning hours. At ACDS, we offer complimentary supervised before-school care for children enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Students will experience a relaxed morning environment where they can prepare for the school day ahead.
Hours of Operation
- Kindergarten - 8th Grade: 7:15 to 7:50 a.m.
Fees
Complimentary before-school care is supervised by an ACDS staff member and is included in the cost of tuition.
How to Enroll
Registration is not required for before-school care, but we ask all parents to follow the drop-off procedures using the Brightwheel app.
After-School Care: Pre-Kindergarten - 8th Grade
Pre-Kindergarten: The Apple Tree
Our Pre-Kindergarten after-school care program provides opportunities for children to freely explore ideas and engage in unstructured play in a safe, supervised environment. Dedicated teachers prepare a variety of non-academic activities, including indoor and outdoor play, arts and crafts, stories, and quiet time for our younger set.

How to Enroll
Enrollment takes place during the re-enrollment period during the start of each year. If you would like to enroll your child mid-year, please contact Amber White or Mary Jo Heindel. Drop-in care is offered on a space available basis. Please note: Students requiring after school care five days a week are given priority for Apple Tree enrollment.
Kindergarten - 3rd Grade: The Apple Orchard
The relaxed and welcoming Apple Orchard environment provides a balance of “down time,” structured activities, “space” to finish homework, and freedom to uncover children's new and emerging interests. Apple Orchard is intended to provide a home-like environment staffed by attentive, certified caregivers.

4th - 8th Grade: MASH
MASH offers students the opportunity to do homework, socialize, play on the blacktop and take part in various activities appropriate to this age. Students can participate in ACDS after-school clubs and sports, and then rejoin the MASH program when those activities are done.
During MASH, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., 4th - 8th grade students can participate in a quiet, structured time to get started on homework, set up a time to work with a teacher, collaborate with a group, or make up a test.
The program is supervised and administered by an ACDS staff member. Students should bring their own snack to MASH.

How to Enroll
Enrollment takes place during the re-enrollment period during the start of each year. 4th - 8th Grade students may enroll in MASH for a minimum of one day per week or attend on a drop-in basis (first-come, first-served) as space allows.
