Our youngest campers who will be entering Pre-Kindergarten in Fall 2023 can enjoy mornings at ACDS Summer Camp with fun themed camps.

Rising Kindergarten campers can make it a full day of Summer Camp with our themed morning camps and exciting afternoon camps where they will also learn to get ready for kindergarten routines!

Week 1 - Morning

Date: June 19 - 23, 2023
Time: 9 am - 1 pm

Little Einstein & Little Picasso (Entering Pre-K - Kindergarten)

Camp Leaders: Donna Meyer and Margaret Reyes

Time: This camp runs from 9 am - 1 pm, Monday to Friday
This camp has a 2:16 teacher:student ratio.

We plan to inspire budding scientists and artists while having fun! Little Einstein and Picasso camp is geared towards exposing children to an array of hands-on experiences through everyday activities by exploring, trying out new things, and experimenting together.

Using science and art activities, this camp encourages children to come up with questions, let their imagination go beyond their knowledge, and play to their creative side. They will have fun with color mixings, learn about rainbows, create masterpieces with rainbow colors, and many more fun and creative science and art activities.

This camp has a 2:20 teacher:student ratio.

Incoming kinders can join in afternoon fun to get ready for kindergarten routines! The new kindergarteners will have an opportunity to explore outdoor activities such as scavenger hunts, water play, and create process based art! Children will also practice collaboration and building fine motor skills. Each week will offer different opportunities to make friends, gain confidence, and build kindergarten independence. Students may have rest time, depending on the needs of the group.

Week 2 - Morning

Time: 9 am - 1 pm (Pre-K camp) and 9 am - 12 pm (Kindergarten camp)

Camp STEAMtastic! (Entering Pre-K)

Camp Leader: Elizabeth Lasher and Alison Comerford
Price: $400
Time: This camp runs from 9 am - 1 pm, Monday to Friday
This camp has a 2:16 teacher:student ratio.

This camp features hands-on, process activities for preschoolers to explore and to create hypotheses around while also taking the time to reflect on their adventures, with friends! Stains and mistakes are part of the process while we experience messy art, work with construction materials, cook, and make potions galore.

Kinder Cougar Camp: Jungle/Farm (Entering Kindergarten)

Theme: Jungle/Farm
This camp has a 2:20 teacher:student ratio.

Ready for the big jump into kindergarten? Marie Goodman is excited to launch a kinder prep camp for our current Pre-Kindergartners and rising Kindergarteners! Campers will have daily practice of early kinder concepts in fun, hands-on, manipulative and game-based activities. The early literacy concepts that will be practiced include upper and lower case letter writing, letter sounds, early reading concepts, writing stories in shared writing and individual books, and math concepts including counting, cardinality and number sense. Campers will work on process-based art, listen to stories, have daily morning meetings, and do a lot of community building as they get ready for ACDS kindergarten! This week's theme is Jungle/Farm.

Kinder Cougar Camp is a great opportunity to explore early kindergarten concepts in a fun, play-based format. Parents will get a letter at the end of camp detailing their child's experience during the session and ways to support their child at home.

Safari Camp (Entering Pre-K)

Look, what’s that we see? We will get out binoculars for a fun Summer Safari trip! Come join us for this adventure camp where we will learn about different animals, terrains, ecosystems, and so much more! Be transported to the wild -- from outdoor activities, safari art, to dancing to a summer beat -- while learning on your safari.

Kinder Cougar Camp: Pirates (Entering Kindergarten)

Theme: Pirates

A Camping We Will Go! (Entering Pre-Kindergarten)

Whether your family are avid campers or have never camped at all, your child will have s'more fun camping with friends at ACDS! We will learn how to pitch a tent, share "campfire" stories (sans the real fire!), go on nature walks, learn how to identify common foliage, use nature as our muse for art, learn about camping safety, and more! And while they're having camping adventures, they may not know that they have been practicing their observation skills, growing their naturalist vocabulary, practicing fine and gross motor skills, learning how to work cooperatively, and expanding their confidence.

Kinder Cougar Camp: Ocean (Entering Kindergarten)

Join us for a week of summer fun with Science! We will think like scientists as we explore the outdoor world while also deepening our learning through fun experiments. This exciting week of camp for budding scientists will also include the following as it relates to science: art, storytime, water play, and free play so our little scientists’ imaginations can soar!

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten Camp Leaders

Marie Goodman

Marie Goodman is an avid early childhood teacher with 12 years experience teaching kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. She incorporates creativity and art into academics, and enjoys the wonder and joy of early childhood discovery. Mrs. Goodman is also the parent of an incoming kindergartener, and a two year old! She's excited about getting another chance to attend camp, as both a former childhood camper and summer camp counselor!

Bianca Jones

Ms. Jones has been teaching at ACDS for four years and is excited to help out with summer camp for the second year in a row. Before ACDS, she taught Pre-K for over 17 years and spent 4 years in preschool administration. She is currently an ECE and Elementary Enrichment Teacher. Ms. Jones enjoys working with preschool and lower elementary students and looks forward to meeting more friends over the summer!

Elizabeth Lasher

An Early Childhood Specialist teacher with over 30 years of experience who is committed to the truth of play as the most profound and rich curriculum we can offer young children. Creating learning environments that say YES to a child so they can experiment, test ideas, make messes and mistakes are brilliant spaces for children. Creating wonder-filled, hands-on, process oriented activities is a passion of mine. George Bernard Shaw said, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.” And I believe that what we learn with joy we never forget.

Donna Meyer

Mrs. Meyer has three children. Her oldest son Garrett (27) lives in New Hampshire and works in Finance. Her daughter Natalie (23), works at Stanford as an administrator in the NICU. Her youngest son Ethan (14), will be graduating from 8th grade at ACDS this spring. She has been teaching in Preschool at ACDS for 6 years, and she has been a preschool teacher for 20 years. When she is not inside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family watching her son Ethan play basketball, hiking or walking outside, and cheering on the Golden State Warriors.

Margaret Reyes

Ms. Reyes been teaching Pre-K at ACDS for the past 6 years, but has been in the education field for more than 20 years. She has three lovely children, two boys, and a girl. Her eldest graduated from Notre Dame, and her middle son graduated from University of Nevada, Reno. Her youngest recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University, majoring in Computer Science and Engineering, and minoring in Computer Graphics and Animation. When Ms. Reyes is not at school, she enjoys baking, antique & thrift shopping, or going on walks. She is very excited to be working at summer camp again this year.

Niloufar Shirmohammadi

Ms. Shirmohammadi has been working in the education field for the past seven years working mainly with Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade students. She enjoys observing the milestones of each age group and connecting to each student and their individual needs. Ms. Shirmohammadi's daugther attended ACDS and knows first hand how ACDS allows each child to discover their talents, thus supporting them to achieve their optimum during their growing years and beyond. She looks forward look forward to welcoming this year's campers and to a summer filled with many memories for years to follow.
