Summer Camp Information Packet

Thank you for choosing to be a part of the 2022 ACDS Summer Camp. We look forward to providing all our campers a stimulating summer filled with unforgettable moments and fun! 

This online information packet is our reference guide for both parents and children of our Summer Camp. Our first and foremost priority is to keep your children safe and we take this responsibility seriously. Please take time with your child to review this information. Please contact ACDS or the Summer Day Camp Director if you have any questions or comments.

Lunch/Snacks

Please note that lunch and/or snacks are not provided during camp. All campers for all camps should bring with them a water bottle and snack in clearly labeled containers.

For those students attending both a morning and afternoon session, please provide a packed lunch, snacks and water bottle in clearly labeled containers.

Peanut/Nut/Sesame-Free Zone for Pre-K and K only
Our Pre-K and K camps and rooms will remain a “peanut/nut/sesame-free zone.” Please do not send in any food items to be consumed during camp that contains peanuts, nuts, sesame, peanut butter, nut butters, sesame butters or peanut/nut/sesame products.


What to Bring

Water Bottle & Snacks/Lunch:

  • For all morning and afternoon camps, campers should bring a water bottle and snack.
  • If campers are attending a morning session and staying to attend an afternoon session, please provide them with a packed lunch and additional snacks.

Sunscreen: Please apply sunscreen to your child before the session they are attending. If you would like provide your child with sunscreen please provide permission during the registration process. Sunscreen must be clearly labeled in a bag with their name on it.

Equipment/Clothing: Every child should wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes and socks (no cleats, flip flops, sandals or Crocs). Please bring a cap/hat.

Please review each camp description for the latest guidance on what equipment to bring or special clothes to wear to camp. Below are some of the camps requiring campers to bring equipment or wear special clothing:

  • Gardening Galore: Campers will need closed toed shoes and clothes/shoes that can get dirty.
  • Afternoon Sports Camp: Children should wear comfortable clothes and athletics shoes (not cleats).


Camp T-Shirt

All campers will receive a camp t-shirt. If a camper is registered for more than one camp, they will receive their camp t-shirt during their first camp only.


Fees

To reserve a spot for any camp, registration forms must be completely filled out. Incomplete registration forms will not hold the spot for your child. Camp fees payment is due in full to complete your registration and reserve a spot for your child for the registered camp. Please see the camp registration site for all camp fees.


Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations must be received in writing by email to summercamps@almadencountryday.org at least 7 days prior to the summer camp start date. For all registrations received prior to April 9, 2022, cancellations received at least 7 days prior to start date, a full refund will be issued. For all registrations received on or after April 9, 2022, cancellations received at least 7 days prior to start date, a refund will be issued minus an administrative fee of $30/camp.

Credits/Refunds are not possible for missed day(s) of a camp session.

ACDS reserves the right to cancel any of our camps due to unforeseen circumstances. In addition, all camps are subject to a minimum enrollment. Dates and times are subject to change. You will be notified of any change or cancellation to a course/camp to which your child is registered at least 14 days before the start of camp.


Code of Conduct

All children are expected to respect, listen to and follow directions and instructions from camp staff. Our staff are expected to treat all children with care, respect, responsibility and honesty. All incidents will be handled immediately, individually and discreetly. For the privacy and security of our staff, children and their families, all information is kept confidential.

Refunds or credits will not be given if your child is suspended from the camp for disciplinary actions and will not be able to register for another summer day camp.


Positive Discipline Policy

We believe and value the Positive Discipline, Conscious Discipline and Responsive Classroom discipline models here at ACDS. These methods are encouraging and respectful ways to solve conflicts and promote belongingness. We focus on the positive points of behavior here at ACDS. We do not ignore problems, we solve them together. We believe that helping children learn how to handle difficult situations successfully is the goal. We want all children to have the most positive camp experience, helping them feel safe with a sense of connection. We encourage our campers to speak up with camp staff if there is a problem so that we may address the problem immediately. These models of discipline promote positive decision making, with a clear understanding of expectations, promoting problem solving strategies which ultimately increase social awareness and confidence.

Drop-off & Pick-up

Your child will be checked-in and out each day by a camp staff member. Each child must be picked up daily by his/her parents, guardian, or by an authorized person* (aged 18 or older) whose name is listed on our registration system. A photo I.D. will be required for verification before your child can be released.

Morning Camps start promptly at 9:00 am and Afternoon Camps start at 12:45 pm.

MORNING ACDS Summer Camps between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm:

  • Drop-off is between 8:45 - 9:00 am
  • Pick-up is between 12:00 - 12:15 pm ($2 per minute after 12:15 pm; no supervision after 12:30 pm)

For campers who stay to attend the Afternoon Camps, supervision will be provided for campers to take a break and eat their packed lunch.

AFTERNOON ACDS Summer Camps between 12:45 - 3:45 pm:

  • Drop-off is between 12:30 - 12:45 pm
  • Pick-up is between 3:45 - 4:00 pm ($2 per minute after 4:00 pm; no supervision after 4:15 pm)

EVENING Volleyball Camps between 5:00 - 7:00 pm:

  • Drop-off is between 4:45 - 5:00 pm
  • Pick-up is between 6:45 - 7:00 pm ($2 per minute after 7:00 pm; no supervision after 7:15 pm)

* Only individuals listed on your pick up list are allowed to pick up your child. We DO NOT accept phone verification for acceptable pick up.


Drop-off & Pick-up Locations

You may access our parking lot off Akio Way. 


Special Health/Medical Concerns

Should your child have any health or medical concerns, please be sure to list them clearly during the registration process in the medical information form.

MEDICATIONS
If you need to drop off any prescribed medications for your child, please arrive at 8:45 am on the first day of camp. Any prescribed medications will need to be accompanied by a doctor's note, be in their original packaging and not expired. No over-the-counter medications are allowed; staff will NOT dispense any over-the-counter medications to your child even if provided by the parent/guardian.

The medications will remain at ACDS until the last day of camp. If your child has an EpiPen, please note this during the registration process and have them bring two to camp (one to keep with them and one to keep on campus). Please note, if an EpiPen needs to be used at any time during camp, 911 will be called immediately.

If you have any concerns you would like to discuss with our Camp Director before the start of camp, please contact Melinda Hammond at summercamps@almadencountryday.org at least 1 week before the start of camp.


Illness/Health

When your child is ill for any reason, please DO NOT bring him/her to camp that day and notify us at summercamps@almadencountryday.org of the absence.  As a preventative measure to keep all children and staff safe during camp, if your child comes to camp ill or becomes ill at camp, you will be notified to pick up your child immediately.

We ask you to keep your child home if there are signs of: fever, coughing, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, lice, communicable diseases such as pink eye, strep throat, chicken pox, flu, etc. In some cases, a note from a doctor stating that your child has been treated and can return to camp without risk to others may be required in order for him/her to return to camp.

Our Summer Day Camp staff is CPR and First Aid Certified. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy camp experience. We will contact the parent or guardian immediately should care be given and/or the services of physicians are required.

Mandatory Reporting Policy

ACDS Summer Day Camp staff are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect, trained to recognize the signs of abuse or neglect and are required by law to notify the Department of Family and Child Services.
